NiSource, Inc: Homeschoolers Need Not Apply

Graduation CapNiSource, Inc, a Fortune 500 company, which operates in Ohio told the Home School Legal Defense Association that it will not be hiring homeschooled graduates.

Charisma News pointed out the reply to the Home School Legal Defense Association was in response to letters attempting to resolve a dispute over a particular job applicant.  NiSource withdrew the  job offer upon learning  the applicant was homeschooled.

The job applicant was well-qualified.  “In addition to graduating from home-school in compliance with Ohio law, this applicant had years of relevant job experience and several key industry certifications. During his last two years of high school the applicant took seven courses at a recognized state college and made the dean’s list.”

Ken Ham points out it could be a worldview issue.  It doesn’t matter the qualifications but whether the person is “indoctrinated into the worldview dictated by the state.”

A way of outlawing homeschooling without passing laws.  Perhaps NiSource, Inc. can hire some of the 71% that fail to qualify for military service.

Affordable Care Act: Supreme Court Religious Freedom Upheld

The Supreme Court ruled 5-to-4 on Monday that requiring family-owned corporations to pay for insurance coverage for contraception under the Affordable Care Act violated a federal law protecting religious freedom.

“Any suggestion that for-profit corporations are incapable of exercising religion because their purpose is simply to make money flies in the face of modern corporate law,” Alito wrote, adding that by requiring religious corporations to cover contraception, “the HHS mandate demands that they engage in conduct that seriously violates their religious beliefs.”

The two companies were Hobby Lobby, a Christian-owned craft supply chain store, and Conestoga Wood Specialties Store, a Pennsylvania wood manufacturer owned by a family of Mennonites.  Both privately owned companies  challenged the contraception mandate on the grounds that it violates their  religious freedom by requiring them to pay for methods of contraception they find morally objectionable in that four types of contraception required to be covered amounted to abortion.

The decision was written narrowly so to apply to the contraception mandate.

Keystone XL

Crude oil from a friendly and allied neighbor.  Increase jobs.  U.S.A and Canadian studies showed low impact to the environment.  Support for the Keystone XL pipeline was almost universal.

After 5 years of waiting for the current administration to approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline the Canadian government has approved plans for a new pipeline and port project to ship the oil to Asia instead.

A failed energy policy which could have been helpful to the economy.

It was initially hoped that recent discoveries of massive new Canadian oil and gas reserves could benefit both Canada and the United States by building a safe and reliable pipeline to bring the oil to U.S. refineries in Louisiana and Texas. Building the proposed 1,179-mile Keystone pipeline promised, not just a huge new supply of reliable, clean, and affordable oil to U.S. markets, but the creation of up to 20,000 high-paying construction jobs. An additional 22,000 jobs economists predicted would have resulted from the broader economic stimulus the project would have generated.

Rather than purchasing crude from a friendly and allied neighbor, the United States will most likely need to continue its reliance upon hostile sources like Venezuela. Energy analysts had hoped that construction of Keystone could have replaced almost half of the current U.S. daily crude purchases from that volatile, anti-American dictatorship, depriving Venezuela of the resources it relies upon to stay in power and fund its Cuban allies.

Refusal to approve Keystone has forced suppliers to deliver their flammable crude via thousands of trucks and railcars traveling on America’s highways and railroads, rather than in a pipeline.

Pentagon: More Than Two-Thirds of American Youth Wouldn’t Qualify for Service

army-paraderowA wake-up call to parents and schools and a frightening snapshot of the USA.

The Defense Department estimates 71% of 17 to 24 year-olds would fail to qualify for military service due to a variety of  physical, behavioral or educational issues.  That number does not include  those turned away for tattoos or other appearance issues.  Military hopefuls were deemed unfit due to obesity, lack of a high-school diploma, felony convictions and prescription-drug use for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder within the last 12 months.

The most common reason military hopefuls are disqualified is obesity.  About a quarter of high school graduates cannot pass the Armed Forces Qualification Test, they lack even basic mathematics and reading skills needed to join the military in any capacity.

Five churches, including COCIN, EYN and Deeper Life Bible Church, in Kwada village about 10 kilometres from Chibok town, were on Sunday attacked by Boko Haram insurgents. The attackers, according to report from locals in Chibok, targeted the time when worshipers were ready for the Sunday Service.

They killed and burnt houses after attacking worshipers in five churches in Kwada; after that, they advanced to Kautikari, less than 8 kilometres to Chibok town, whey they equally killed people and destroyed properties.”

“I’m not sure security agencies have gone to rescue the villagers, but I learnt that the insurgents are still in pursuit of the remaining villagers”, Mallam Yahi told DailyPost.

IRS Scandal

usaflageaglecryingJune 3, 2011, the  Ways and Means Committee began investigating the IRS abuse of power.  The  investigation of the IRS abuse of power and taxpayer harassment, no one is going to be held accountable.  The IRS witnesses defiance and smug arrogant attitudes are a disgrace! The IRS  inexcusable mistreatment and intimidation of taxpayers and  bold lies to Congress is a disgrace!  Congress allowing stonewalling by the IRS and the current administration is a disgrace!

The targeting of conservative groups, religious groups, and groups that disagreed with the current administration, no one will be fired and no one will go to jail.  Pro-Israel groups, pro-life groups, voting rights groups, 100’s of conservative groups. Even after the scandal was exposed the IRS continued to target groups.

The IRS going after average Americans is one of the worst abuses of  power and the perpetrators  will go away unscathed. It will be decided in the courts (it seems one branch of the government is functioning).  And the U.S. public will pay the tab.

Morality Apart From God
Written by Ray Cotton

Recently, I became aware of a professor at one of the local colleges whose goal is to convince his students that you can have a system of ethics without a belief in God. Now I agree with him that holding his position is theoretically possible, but I said to him that such an ethical system is one built on sand. It would not stand the test of time nor the waves of adversity.

The U.S.S.R. tried to build an empire on godless atheism, and it failed miserably. Today in Russia we still see the results of the ethics of atheism. You would think that the Russians, having suffered so much under a totalitarian regime, would strive to do the right thing in appreciation for their new freedoms. Many have, but Russia today is torn apart by crime, greed, lawlessness, and immorality. Why? Was it merely too much freedom too soon, or are they still reaping the rewards of the ethics of atheism?

Christians Flee from Qaraqosh

sunset iraq photoQaraqosh is a town near Mosul, Iraq.  Last night 50,000 Assyrians, mostly Christians,  fled  from the Nineveh township of Qaraqosh,  a result of shelling by ISIS. The township includes the historic Christian villages of Keremles and Bartella.  Since the collapse of the Iraq military in Mosul, the only armed defenders of Qaraqosh are the Kurdish Pershmerga militia.

Nearly all of the population of Qaraqosh, 50,000 Assyrians, has fled the city amid fighting between ISIS and Kurds. Syrian Catholic Archbishop Mar Youhana Boutros Moshe attempted to negotiate with ISIS and the Kurds to convince them to leave the city, but the negotiations failed. ISIS and the ‘Revolutionary Tribes’ (Sunnis) are set to storm the city.

According to Bishop Yousif Habash of the Syriac Orthodox Church in New Jersey, Qaraqosh (also known as Baghdede) is now almost completely abandoned. A source reporting from Qaraqosh told AINA the population has fled to Arbel, Dohuk, Alqosh, Tel Kepe, Telsqop and Ankawa. Monasteries and churches are filled with displaced Christian refugees from Baghdede. AINA

A Christian Solidarity International (CSI) team is in the area to assist with relief efforts.  According to CSI’s local partner, the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, the ISIS attack against Qaraqosh “portends a humanitarian catastrophe for all the people in the Nineveh Plain, and a disastrous emigration of Christians out of the country.”

Emails show Lerner targeting Senator Grassley and Investigation Expands-Supoena 28 years of Emails

Jon Stewart Mocks Totally Incompetent IRS

IRS former-employee Lois Lerner wanted to refer Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley for an audit after mistakenly receiving an invitation to a party intended for Grassley was delivered to Lerner.  The organization that sent the party invitation offered to pay travel expenses for Grassley’s wife.   The travel expenses would be legal as long as Grassley reported it.  Before Grassley even accepted the invitation Lerner wanted to refer Grassley for an IRS audit. Other emails show her colleagues talking her out of it.  Senator Grassley did not attend the event.  House Ways and Means Committee email in question.

House Ways and Means Committee: Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) announced the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) targeting of conservative individuals includes a sitting United States Senator.
