Turkey continues to vehemently deny there was any genocide in Armenia during World War 1. Historians estimate that up to 1.5 million Armenians were killed by Ottoman Turks during World War 1, an event viewed by scholars as the first genocide of the 20th century.
Take cropleek and garlic, of both equal quantities, pound them well together. Take wine and bullocks gall, mix with the leek, let it stand nine days in the brass vessel.
A 10th century Anglo Saxon potion made of onions, garlic, wine and oxgall , bile from a cow’s stomach can kill hospital superbugs, say scientists.
The potent 10th century brew – used by Anglo Saxons to treat a stye (an abscess on the eyelid) destroyed 90 per cent of the bacteria on scraps of skin taken from mice with MRSA.
Interestingly, the ingredients had little effect unless they were all brought together into the concoction, the study by Nottingham University researchers found….
The Anglo Saxon expert came up with the idea of trying out the recipe. It describes a very specific method of making the solution, including the use of a brass vessel to brew it in, a strainer to purify it and an instruction to leave the mixture for nine days before use.
She enlisted the help of microbiologists who believe the potion’s bacteria-killing effect is not due to a single ingredient but the combination used, brewing methods and container material.
Further research is planned to investigate how and why this works. Dr Lee said: ‘We were genuinely astonished at the results of our experiments in the lab. DailyMail
Haya El Ali, 26, the young woman who secretly filmed life in Raqqa, Syria under ISIS has fled to France. “When she was recognised by the Islamic extremists, Haya received death threats and had to flee, by way of Turkey, to Europe. Today, she is a refugee in France.” France24
“France’s interior minister on Tuesday said that the government cut welfare benefits last year for 290 persons identified as jihadists.”
“France’s interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve told French lawmakers that the interior ministry had identified close to 300 individuals who had left France to wage jihad in Iraq or Syria, sharing their names with social welfare agencies.
The minister said that thanks to the government’s platform allowing people to report suspected cases of Islamic radicalisation “instances in which persons have travelled outside the national territory are immediately indicated to officials in charge of disbursing social benefits”.
Cazeneuve was answering a question from an opposition lawmaker who expressed concern over French citizens collecting welfare checks while fighting alongside Islamic extremist groups in the Middle East. France24
“These loopholes … are not numerous,” Cazeneuve said.
Western governments need to wise up to the risks of funding jihadists through social welfare programs. Tamerlan Tsarnaev received Massachusetts welfare benefits while traveling to the country of Georgia for terrorist seminars and training. Tsarnaev’s name was included on two U.S. terror-watch databases in 2011.
In 2013 in the U.K., Anjem Choudary who is aligned and linked to a number of Islamic groups and praised the murderers of British solider Lee Rigby told fanatics to copy him by going on benefits — urging: “Claim your Jihad Seeker’s Allowance.”
A Chechen national, 32, took children from home in Maastricht, Netherlands. The estranged husband had reported to authorizes that she had intentions of travel to Syria. She convinced the authorities she was not planning to go to Syria. The woman took two of her children, a 7-year-old boy and a 8-year-old girl and traveled to Raqqa, Syria.
It is the first known instance of children in the Netherlands being abducted and taken to join ISIS.
According to the Dutch newspaper De Limburger, the children’s father had previously reported his estranged wife to the police because he was concerned she was planning to travel to Syria.
Officers are said to have questioned the woman several times but she denied having intentions to join ISIS and investigators could find no evidence of concrete travel plans.
Shortly afterwards the woman vanished from Maastricht with two of the children, prompting Dutch officials to launch a major alert, leading to an international arrest warrant being issued.
Despite this the woman later took to Facebook to declare that she and her two children had arrived in the terrorists’ de facto capital Raqqa, having used fake passports to travel across Europe.
After making the announcement of their arrival in Raqqa on Facebook last October, nothing has been heard from the trio since.
Dutch officials said they had no way of telling whether the group were still alive, with prosecutor Bart den Hartigh declaring the recovery of the children ‘impossible’ as the Netherlands has no legal relationship with either the Syrian regime or the terror group that controls the city of DailyMail
The Campaign Against Antisemitism reports, in 2014 saw a record-breaking number of antisemitic incidents against Jewish people and Jewish property in Britain. Anti-Antisemitism is not as high in Britain as in most of Europe. As many as 45% of British Jews fear they may have no future in Britian. The U.K. needs to wake up.
Following an experiment by Israeli Journalist Zvika Klein on the streets of Paris, other journalist decided to test the levels of prejudice in other cities. British journalist Jonathan Kalmus decided to secretly film himself walking in the center of two British cities wearing the traditional Jewish head covering ‘kippah’ to test reaction.
“It took me just one minute. One minute of walking one single, busy major street in Manchester before abuse was flung at me,” said British journalist Jonathan Kalmus. The anti-Semitic incidents in Bradford was “more shameful,” he said.
Kalmus said, “there was one incident while I stopped in Bradford City Park’s branch of Starbucks. As soon as I walked in a Muslim man, sporting traditional Islamic dress and a heavy black beard raised his eyes from his drink, looked at me with wide eyes, stood up, raised his hand and said ‘Shalom, Shalom’, the traditional Hebrew greeting which means peace.”
Other journalist tired the reactions in Stockholm, Rome, and Berlin. The journalist in Rome was spit on and received insults yelled at him. Many of the locals just looked at him in bewilderment and a tradesman shouting ‘Shabat Shalom’ to him. The journalists in Stockholm and Berlin walked for hours without incident.
The updated Austrian “Law on Islam” bans foreign funding for mosques and imams limiting influence from abroad, it also requires imams to be able to speak German. It is controversial but is also being held up as a model for Europe in dealing with Islam.
“”What we want is to reduce the political influence and control from abroad and we want to give Islam the chance to develop freely within our society and in line with our common European values,” said Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz.
Igniting fresh controversy, Austria’s parliament has approved significant changes to the country’s “Law on Islam” — a revamping of a 103-year-old law to expand certain legal protections while also placing new restrictions on Muslim organizations and how adherents practice their faith.
While the changes were proposed years ago — long before attacks in France and Denmark by homegrown terrorists with extremist views — the reforms passed Wednesday are intended to “clearly combat” the influence of radical Islam, according to Austria’s conservative foreign affairs minister Sebastian Kurz, Agence France-Presse reported.
Lawmakers made the changes to a 1912 law that codified Islam as an official religion in Austria. Now, Austria’s roughly 450 Muslim organizations face new limits on foreign funding, a move that has generated criticism from around the world, since other religious communities can still receive international support. Many of Austria’s roughly 500,000 Muslims hail from Turkey, which finances and sends imams to the European nation.
According to Austria’s foreign ministry, imams cannot receive continuous financing under the law.
The approved bill — referred to as the “Law on Islam” by the foreign ministry — also requires imams to be able to speak German, AFP reported. Muslim organizations are not required to use a standardized German translation of the Koran, but central tenets of the religion must be presented in German, a foreign ministry official told The Post.

A cartoon exhibit in Helsinki, Finland that includes 10 Finnish cartoonists paying tribute to their colleagues killed in Paris, France has been forced to close for the third time.
The Finnish Comics Society is having a hard time finding a venue for its exhibition honouring the cartoonists killed in the Charlie Hebdo terror attack in Paris, reports the daily Helsingin Sanomat.
The show entitled “I am Charlie”, was on Monday closed for a third time amid security concerns. The display had only been open for about 15 minutes at Library 10 in the Helsinki’s main post office building.
Originally the exhibition had been on display at another library in the Arabianranta neighbourhood, but was moved last week to the Rosebud bookshop in the city centre.
In all three cases, the building owners had asked to have the show closed because of safety worries – particularly following last week’s attacks in Copenhagen.
On Tuesday the organisers are meeting to decide where to go from here.
The director of Library 10 told the paper that the building’s owners and police are studying the security issues surrounding the show, and that it may still be possible for it to re-open at the library.
The exhibit includes work by 10 leading Finnish cartoonists, including well-known names such as Pertti Jarla and Milla Paloniemi. uutiset
France is on a new terror alert after five drones were spotted flying during the night over landmarks and the U.S. Embassy in Paris. The drones appeared over Paris in five locations in the city between midnight and 6 AM.
The first drone sighting was near the US embassy in the French capital. The Eiffel Tower, the Place de la Concorde and the Invalides military museum [where Napoleon Bonaparte is buried] “were also flown over” in the early hours of Tuesday, the source said.
“It could be a coordinated action but we don’t know for now,” the source, who asked not to be identified, said. “We did everything to try and catch the operators but they were not found,” another source close to the investigation said.
France has experienced a series of mysterious drone appearances in the last few months. On January 20, a pilotless aircraft briefly went over the presidential palace in Paris, while around 20 drones were earlier seen flying above nuclear power plants.
However until Tuesday “there have never been so many drones appearing in one night,” the security source said.
French law bans small, civilian drones from areas such as nuclear facilities, which are protected by a no-fly zone that spans a 2.5-kilometre (1.6-mile) radius and a height of 1,000 metres.
Despite a heightened security alert over the risk of Islamist attacks in France, police so far have been unable to identify who is behind the drone activity.
Brigitte Bardot, Frances bombshell actress from the 50s and 60s, has been charged and found guilty five separate times of insulting Muslims and inciting racial hatred. Although Muslim is not a race it is a religion.
Bardot wrote: “I am fed up with being under the thumb of this population which is destroying us, destroying our country.”
The prosecutor in her fifth trial, Anne de Fontette, wants a heftier fine and a tougher sentence: the equivalent of $24,000 and a two month (hopefully) suspended jail term.
What crimes has Bardot committed in the land without a First Amendment, in the land of Hate Speech laws that are being slickly exploited by non-persecuted Muslims?
Brigitte is an avid advocate of animals rights and a vocal defender of her French homeland.
