Thousands Of Haitians Find ‘Mexican dream’

Tijuana’s growing economy needs laborers and has found ones with a good work ethic.  It’s the “Mexican dream” for many Haitians.  Why not “the Mexican dream” for Mexicans?

Jose Luis Millan found a new crop of star employees at an upscale Tijuana car wash where customers cross the border from the U.S. to pay up to $950 to have their prized possessions steamed and scrubbed for hours. They’re never late, always hustle and come in on days off to learn new skills, traits that he says make them a model for their Mexican counterparts.

They are among several thousand Haitians who came to Mexico’s northwest corner hoping to cross the border before the U.S. abruptly closed its doors last year. The Mexican government has welcomed them with visas that help them fill the need for labor in Tijuana’s growing economy.

In a country whose population is 1 percent black, Tijuana’s Haitians stand out. They share tight living quarters, sending much of their meager wages to support family in Haiti. Haitians earn far less than they would in the United States but enough to forsake the risk of getting deported by heading north.

Two new Haitian restaurants downtown serve dishes with mangoes and mashed plantains. Dozens of Haitian children attend public schools. Factories that export to the U.S. recruit Haitians, who can also be found waiting tables and worshipping at congregations that added services in Creole.

“It’s the Mexican dream for many of them, a sense that they belong,” Millan said. “Mexico has given them opportunity. Mexico has opened up and let them achieve their dreams.”

Millan, who lived in the Los Angeles area for two decades until he was forced to leave last year for employing dozens of people illegally at his party planning company, sees parallels to Mexicans in the U.S. Their teamwork sets an example. Some customers ask for them.

Haitians, he says, “fight hard, fight strong, and they don’t stop.” WashingtonPost

Why then are Mexicans crossing into the U.S.?

Illegal activities and welfare.

Just because illegal aliens are not legally entitled to benefits from state and federal government does not mean they do not receive them.

Children born in the United States are considered U.S. citizens. Illegal aliens that have given birth to a U.S. citizen, the families are eligible for welfare benefits.  Buy forged documents or steal a U.S. social security number that person could sign up for welfare benefits.

Illegal immigrant households receive an average of $5,692 in federal welfare benefits every year, far more than the average “native” American household, at $4,431, according to a new report [2016] on the cost of immigration released Monday.

The Center for Immigration Studies, in an analysis of federal cost figures, found that all immigrant-headed households — legal and illegal — receive an average of $6,241 in welfare,..

The greater consumption of welfare dollars by immigrants can be explained in large part by their lower level of education and larger number of children compared to natives. Over 24 percent of immigrant households are headed by a high school dropout, compared to just 8 percent of native households. In addition, 13 percent of immigrant households have three or more children, vs. just 6 percent of native households.  WashingtonExaminer

David Inserra – research associate with the Heritage Foundation:

  • The typical household headed by a college-educated person paid $54,089 in taxes while receiving just $24,839 in government benefits.

  • The average American household headed by a person without a high school diploma paid just $11,469 in taxes while receiving $46,582 in government benefits.

These numbers are not insignificant, he points out, because the average illegal immigrant would fall on the “tax consumer” side of the equation. In fact, he found that half of illegal immigrant households are headed by people with less than a high school diploma, while one-quarter have only a high school diploma.

he NCPA review states:

In 2010, the typical illegal immigrant household received $24,721 in government benefits but paid just over $10,000 in taxes — an annual benefit of more than $14,000 per household. Illegal immigrants not only receive the benefits of government services (like fire and police protection), but their children receive public education. Additionally, children of illegal immigrants that are born in the United States are eligible for the full spread of government welfare benefits, including Social Security and Medicare. Fast And Furious: Suspected Triggerman In Border Agent’s Murder Arrested

The only reasonable explanation for such an asinine program was to increase the dismal number of guns seized or found at crime scenes in Mexico that were from the U.S. Then use those numbers as a pretext for new gun control laws.

The cartel member suspected of shooting and killing Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in 2010 with a gun supplied by the U.S. government was arrested in Mexico Wednesday, senior law enforcement, Border Patrol, and congressional sources told Fox News.

The suspect, Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes, was apprehended by a joint U.S.-Mexico law enforcement task force that included the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Marshals and the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC).

A $250,000 reward had been sought for information leading to the arrest of Osorio-Arellanes, who was captured at a ranch on the border of the Mexican states of Sinaloa and Chihuahua. U.S. authorities have said they will seek his extradition.

Terry was killed on Dec. 14, 2010 in a gunfight between Border Patrol agents and members of a five-man cartel “rip crew,” which regularly patrolled the desert along the U.S.-Mexico border looking for drug dealers to rob.

The agent’s death exposed Operation Fast and Furious, a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) operation in which the federal government allowed criminals to buy guns in Phoenix-area shops with the intention of tracking them once they made their way into Mexico. But the agency lost track of more than 1,400 of the 2,000 guns they allowed smugglers to buy. Two of those guns were found at the scene of Terry’s killing.

The operation set off a political firestorm, and then-Attorney General Eric Holder was held in contempt of Congress after he refused to divulge documents for a congressional investigation. FoxNews

Mexican Border State Governor Destroys 500 Fast And Furious Guns

Barack Obama and Eric Holder’s legacy.

Authorities in this border state destroyed more than 5,000 firearms during a special event with 500 of those from the infamous Fast and Furious gun-walking operation.

During a special event, Nuevo Leon governor Jaime “El Bronco” Rodriguez Calderon oversaw and participated in the destruction of the weapons in the downtown area of Monterrey. High ranking military and state law enforcement personnel accompanied Rodriguez as he spoke about cartel violence and the destruction that those weapons had brought.

According to Nuevo León officials, the weapons had been seized from criminal organizations and from crime scenes. Rodriguez Calderon stated that the weapons had been smuggled into Mexico by criminal organizations from other countries.

More than 500 of the seized weapons were traced back to the failed Fast and Furious Operation where the U.S. Department of Justice allowed Mexican cartels to illegally purchase weapons in the U.S. in order to move them into Mexico. The weapons were supposed to be traced to high ranking cartel figures, however the U.S. Department of Justice lost track of thousands and bolstered the arsenals of criminal enterprises. Breitbart
