The citizen journalist James O’Keefe did a sting to reveal the hypocrisy among Hollywood environmentalists. Hollywood environmentalists who agrees to hide where the funding for an anti-fracking movie is from, Middle Eastern oil interests.
O’Keefe released a video showing Mariel Hemingway, Ed Begley Jr. and environmentalist film producers Josh and Rebecca Tickell meeting with two actors they believe are an ad executive and a Middle Eastern oil tycoon named “Muhammad” who wants to invest $9 million to fund an anti-fracking film. The fake “Muhammad” said, “If Washington D.C. continues fracking America will be energy efficient and then they won’t need our oil anymore.”
The video also includes audio from phone conversations between the fake “Muhammad’s” representatives and the Tickells.
“We’re confident that we can keep this zip-locked. You know, tight. Tight. Air-tight forever,” Josh Tickell says. “If we don’t protect who is kind of funding this thing, if we have to disclose that or that becomes a necessary part of it, the whole enterprise will not work.”
Rebecca Tickell says, “Because if people think the film is funded by Middle Eastern oil it will, it will not have that credibility,”and Josh Tickell says, “It’s money, so in that sense we have no moral issue.”
The objective for funding the film is to stop fracking so that America continues to be dependent on foreign oil and they can continue to sell oil to America. But where the funding is coming from must stay hidden. Mariel Hemingway, Ed Begley, and the Tickell’s agree to participate in the scheme and see nothing wrong with this behavior.
Many environmental activist groups present themselves as objective, nonpartisan, nonprofit groups that are dedicated to environmental integrity and protection. These groups will typically set uup 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.
James O’Keefe told Megyn Kelly: “I think the nefarious thing about this film we did was they’re trying to stop our energy independence. And those Hollywood figures Ed Begley Jr., Mariel Hemingway are ok with that and what’s worse is they’re using non-profit groups and (C)(3) groups to cover up from where the funding is coming from. Is that illegal? I know the senate has been investigating that very issue. So there are some serious issues here about the cover-up of the funding and about how many movies in Hollywood are funded by these mystery groups.”
