Bipartisan House Votes To Restrict Syrian Refugee Program

289-137 veto-proof vote in the House approved a bill to restrict the influx of refugees and  impose new requirements on the refugee screening process.  The bill now goes to the Senate.

47 Democrats — in a significant rebuke of the administration — defected to support the bill, ignoring White House appeals to oppose it. ..

The bill would require the FBI director to certify a background investigation for each refugee — and several top security officials including the DHS secretary to certify that each refugee is not a security threat to the U.S. — before a refugee from Iraq or Syria can be admitted.

On the eve of the vote, the White House issued a formal veto threat — defending the current screening process and claiming the changes called for under the bill would create “significant delays and obstacles” for the existing vetting program.  FoxNews

8 Europe-bound ISIS suspects ‘posing as refugees’ detained by Turkey.

Turkish police detained eight suspected members of the Islamic State jihadist (IS) group,
state media said Wednesday, adding they were planning to sneak into Europe posing as refugees…

Nearly SEVENTY have been arrested in America over ISIS plots in last 18 months

US authorities have charged at least 66 men and women with ISIS-related terror plots on American soil – including a handful of refugees, Daily Mail Online can reveal.

The terror group has set its sights on Washington, D.C. as it vows to further infiltrate the West and ramp up its blood-soaked offensive…

Analysis by Daily Mail Online reveals that a handful of foiled plots have already involved immigrants accused of harboring sympathy for ISIS.

The threat also comes from within, with American teenagers and Islamic converts among those seduced by the group’s torrent of chilling online propaganda.

They include a U.S. Air Force veteran accused of waging war on the country he once served and a National Guard soldier who allegedly plotted to gun down his own colleagues.

Others are seemingly ordinary American citizens, including a young nurse, a pizza parlor boss and schoolgirls tricked into becoming shrouded ISIS brides. DailyMail

al Qaeda Terrorists Who Killed American Soldiers Entered United States Through Refugee Program

Two al Qaeda terrorists who had killed American soldiers were able to enter the country as refugees, according to a report released Wednesday from the House Homeland Security committee.

Waad Ramadan Alwan and Mohanad Shareef Hammadi, two Iraqi refugees settled in Bowling Green, Kentucky, after killing American soldiers, whom they bragged about having “for lunch and dinner.” In 2010, they were caught handling weapons, including included a machine gun and a missile launcher, that they planned to smuggle to insurgents in Iraq.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if there were many more than that,” said Rep. Michael McCaul (R., Texas), the chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security. “And these are trained terrorists in the art of bombmaking that are inside the United States; and quite frankly, from a homeland security perspective, that really concerns me.”

The committee’s report found that the administration’s refugee resettlement program proposal will have “a limited impact on alleviating the overall crisis but could have serious ramifications for U.S. homeland security.” FreeBeacon

US Accepted Syrian Refugees Less Than 3 Percent Christian, 96 Percent Muslims

syrian christians churchThe Syrian refugees admitted to the United States religious affiliations are — 2.4% Christians and 96% Muslims. Before the civil war in Syria, the population was 90% Muslim and 10 % Christian.

Of 2,184 Syrian refugees admitted into the U.S. since the Syrian civil war erupted in 2011, only 53 (2.4 percent) have been Christians while 2098 (or 96 percent) have been Muslims, according to State Department statistics updated on Monday.

The remaining 33 include 1 Yazidi, 8 Jehovah Witnesses, 2 Baha’i, 6 Zoroastrians, 6 of “other religion,” 7 of “no religion,” and 3 atheists. CNSNews

The system of admitting refugees to the United States relays on the United Nations for referrals of Syrian refugees which “unintentionally discriminates” against Christians.

According to Patrick Sookhdeo, international director of Barnabas Fund, a charity campaigning to help rescue Christians from Syria, Christians fleeting ISIS “seldom go to the main refugee camps in neighboring countries because they are marginalized, abused, and at serious risk of violence in these Muslim-majority shelters.”

Sookhdeo says Western governments “must understand that vulnerable Christians are being overlooked in rescue program that take only those in the camps to safety. Fully aware of the victimization that is likely to await them in refugee camps, Iraqi and Syrian believers are mainly taking shelter in schools, churches, and apartments, or with relatives where possible.”CNSNews

This same concern was raised by the Archbishop of Canterbury who warned UK Prime Minister Cameron that his government’s policy on refugees discriminates against Christians trying to leave Syria.

The U.S. takes in only those Syrians who are “persecuted by their government.”  Which means Sunni Muslims, the same Islamic sect as ISIS.  Many would have aided or at least sympathized with ISIS. Many would share the same view as ISIS, that is why 120 were murdered in terrorist attacks in Paris, and persecution of Christians by ‘migrants‘ is happening in European refugee camps.

Arkansas Republican Sens. Tom Cotton and John Boozman are calling for a moratorium on resettlement and a re-evaluation of the refugee-referral process.

“The United States’ reliance on the United Nations for referrals of Syrian refugees should also be re-evaluated,” they said. “That reliance unintentionally discriminates against Syrian Christians and other religious minorities who are reluctant to register as refugees with the United Nations for fear of political and sectarian retribution.”CNSNews

The U.S. policy of letting the U.N. pick who comes to the U.S. as humanitarian refugees needs to end. The largest bloc of countries in the U.N is the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation).

Christians face persecution and many times certain death for their religious beliefs in the Middle East, they are not being granted refugee status and as shown by the Iraqi Chaldean Christians deported by U.S officials.

Missing Syrian Refugee In Louisiana Allegedly Found In Washington D.C.

The federal government is placing refugees in states without notifying state authorities.

Apparently federal authorities and Catholic Charities coordinate to bring the refugees into the country and gain legal status.  Where they go from there no-one knows and state authorities are not notified when a refugee goes missing.

State leaders blasted the feds Monday for not alerting them about 14 Syrian refugees who were resettled in Louisiana. It’s unclear when they arrived. wbrz

Louisiana Governor Jindal and State officials learned
of a missing Syrian refugee in Louisiana from the media.  State police located the missing Syrian without any federal help.

Catholic Charities helped the refugee who settled in Baton Rouge, but said the immigrant left for another state after a couple of days, and they don’t know where the refugee went since they don’t track them.

Louisiana State Police told News 2 on Tuesday the refugee who briefly stayed in Baton Rouge left for Washington D. C. wbrz

Louisiana State Police contacted the charity organized that originally resettled the Syrian refugee in Baton Rouge and were told that the individual has been settled with a family out of state [not sure where as Catholic charities does not track them]. According to the charity, the individual is not missing, but has been resettled outside of Louisiana.

It is unfortunate and potentially dangerous that the federal government will not work with state authorities and we have to hear reports of refugee resettlement from the media. Governor Jindal has demanded that President Obama give state authorities more information on this program and has directed the State Police and state agencies to use all available measures to prevent the resettlement of refugees in Louisiana.” – Major Doug Cain, Louisiana State Police TheGatewayPundit

House Speaker Paul Ryan

Good that some are taking a stand!

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday called for a halt in Syrian refugees coming to the US following the Paris attacks and said the House will vote on the issue later in the week.

“Our nation has always been welcoming but we cannot let terrorists take advantage,” said Ryan (R-Wis.). “Better to be safe than sorry. Take a pause in this particular aspect of the refugee program.”

Emerging from a closed-door meeting Tuesday, Republicans said the chairmen of national security-focused committees were working on legislation dealing with Syrian refugees that the House could vote on as early as Thursday.

A Ryan spokesman said the speaker will likely support the legislation to halt, at least temporarily, Syrian refugees coming to the US. NYPost

Several U.S. States Temporary Refuse Syrian Refugees

“There is no legal basis for a city to declare itself a Sanctuary City,  yet hundreds of them have and the Federal Government refuses to stop them.
So obviously if cities can defy federal law with impunity then states are able to defy federal laws
with impunity. Don’t you hate it when the president’s decision to allow cities to defy federal law
means he really has no grounds to stop states from defying federal law.”  Comment posted on DailyMail

Governors of 25 27 32 states spoke out against resettling Syrian refugees.

Cost And Backlash Grow As More Muslim Refugees Arrive In U.S.

3dmanHoldingUpArrowRedU.S. cities and states have been pushing back against the federal government’s refugee resettlement program partly due to the increase of  Muslim refugees.   In response the Obama administration has increased grants to organizations to educate the U.S. public to welcome the Muslim refugees.

Millions have been give to different organizations.  One organization receiving grant funds is Welcoming America.  “Welcoming America, which works to “educate” elected officials and the public in “receiving communities” before refugees arrive. Welcoming America was started in 2010 with seed money from George Soros’s Open Society Institute,” reports WND.

The increase in grant spending comes after a report published in 2013 by the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), which cited “a notable rise in state and local anti-refugee sentiment and activity across the country.”   These groups say they are nonprofit “charitable” organizations, while most of their money comes from government grants, reports WND.

The HIAS report stated, ” anti-immigrant groups have suggested that the program is a gateway for terrorists. ”

In October 2008, Shirwa Ahmed, also from Minneapolis, blew himself up in one of a string of Shabab attacks in northern Somalia. In May of this year, Farah Mohamed Beledi, 27, of St. Paul, tried to attack a government checkpoint in Mogadishu but was killed by African Union troops before he could detonate his explosives.

Another American, from Washington State, was reported to have been part of a suicide squad that attacked an African Union base in Mogadishu in 2009, killing more than 15 peacekeepers, but his identity has not been confirmed. In 2011, two Somali-American women from Minnesotawere convicted of aiding the Shabab. NYTimes

In April, six Somali refugees that lived Minnesota were arrested by the FBI for attempting to join ISIS. About 25,000 – 30,000 Somalis have been relocated by the State Department to Minnesota.

Similar concerns about terrorist have been raised after the State Department announced it expects to quadruple the number of Syrian refugees brought into the U.S, reported CNS News.

WND reported,  “that 14 Democratic senators wrote a letter to Obama requesting that he “dramatically increase” the number of refugees allowed into the country from Syria.”
