Donald Trump Becomes The First Sitting American President To Visit Jerusalem’s Western Wall

Jerusalem’s Old City was on lockdown as Trump arrived.

Shortly before Donald Trump’s historic visit to Jerusalem’s Old City, the first for a sitting US president, the normally bustling stone alleyways stood deserted and silent, a strange sight for midday on a Monday. From early morning, the only people treading the ancient stones were a few confused tourists, bored shop owners, and hundreds of Israeli police and army forces.

More than 10,000 police officers are taking part in the two-day operation to secure places that Trump will visit, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Western Wall in the Old City, according to Israel Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld….

In addition to the security measures that shut down most of the Old City, the Arab-Israeli Higher Follow-Up Committee called a general commercial in the West Bank and Israel for Monday, encouraging the shuttering of all Israeli Arab and Palestinian businesses in solidarity with prisoners hunger striking in Israeli jails.

Even stores in areas that were open to pedestrians, such as the Arab market leading to Damascus Gate, had their gates drawn close and locked, due to the strike and lack of foot traffic. A few tourists filed through the dead streets, their footsteps echoing in the quiet.

UNESCO Adopts Second Resolution Denying Jewish And Christian Ties to Jerusalem Holy Sites

jerusalem_wailing-wall-western-wall

The UNESCO resolution refers solely to the Temple Mount by its Muslim names “Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif,” and defines it only as “a Muslim holy site of worship.”

The Paris-based organization UNESCO, gets 22 percent of its operating budget from the U.S. – amounting to around $80 million a year – plus a further $3-$4 million a year in extra-budgetary funds, reported CNSNews.

A second resolution by the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (UNESCO) denying any and all connections between the city of Jerusalem and the Jewish religion or people passed on Wednesday morning, though not by a large majority.

With ten votes in favor, two against, and eight abstentions, the 21-member World Heritage Committee did not produce a consensus vote, which would have had the appearance of a unanimous decision, as the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Jordan had hoped, but a secret ballot, allowing each member state to vote individually. Titus and Hadrian would be proud of UNESCO

The Arch of Titus commemorate his victories, including the siege of Jerusalem.

Vespasianus Augustus Titus, the Imperial Roman commander who destroyed the Second Jewish Temple and burned Jerusalem, were alive today to see recurring United Nations Educational, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) resolutions ignoring the Jewish connection to Jerusalem, he would be very proud to see the product of his handiwork.

According to Roman Jewish historian Josephus Flavius, after the destruction of Jerusalem in the year 70 CE to put an end to the Great Jewish Revolt, “there was left nothing to make those that came thither believe it [Jerusalem] had ever been inhabited.” Titus wanted to erase the very connection of the Jewish people to the city of Jerusalem and the land of Israel…

Sixty-five years later, in 135CE, the Romans crushed another Judean rebellion led by Bar Kokhva, putting hundreds of thousands of Jews to the sword. To further punish the Jews, Emperor Hadrian renamed Judea to “Syria-Palaestina”. He turned Jerusalem into a pagan city called Aelia Capitolina, and built a temple to Jupiter on the Jewish Temple Mount. The goal was to rid every historic connection of the Jewish people to their homeland. Full article at TimesOfIsrael

Repudiating own culture and erasing history.

Hardly a week goes by without some archaeological discovery being made in Jerusalem…

The UNESCO resolution denying the Jewish connection to their most revered and holy place for 3,000 years is thus beyond bizarre.

Each country that voted for it or abstained, was in effect repudiating its own culture.

For starters, while the Quran never mentions Jerusalem even once, it does say in Ash-Shu’ara-59, Sura 26 that the children of Israel were the inheritors of their land (Israel). Strange therefore, but not surprising, that the Muslim countries that sponsored the resolution in effect trashed a section of their own holy book, which does not politically suit them. Never mind that in some countries a fatwa is issued against those who insult the prophet Mohammed.

What is more troubling, however, is that most Christian countries, including in Europe, abstained.Read more at Algemeiner

Palestinian Authority Threaten Against Opposition To UNESCO Jerusalem Vote

Ahead of Wednesday’s vote, PA and Jordan warn of “other options” if full support is not received on controversial Jerusalem resolution.

This is not the first time Palestinians has threatened other counties to get them to do their bidding, although not as blatantly.  The UNESCO World vote on Wednesday would deny the Jewish and Christian connection to the Temple Mount.

The resolution, which refers to the Temple Mount solely by its Muslim name of Al-Haram Al Sharif, is expected to be approved by the committee at its 40th session.

But in light of public statements on such resolutions made last week by Italy, Mexico and Brazil, the Palestinians want the resolution to pass by consensus, with the full support of all 21 member states of the World Heritage Committee (WHC).

On Monday, they sent a letter to committee members asking them to submit their positions on the resolution by noon Tuesday.

“Otherwise, the delegation of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the delegation of Palestine would and according to the rules of procedure be obliged to consider other options,” they stated.

Without pledges of a consensus approval, the Palestinians and Jordanians plan to resubmit a text with language that was even more problematic to Israel, explained Israel’s Ambassador to UNESCO Carmel Shama-Hacohen. JPost

UNESCO Chief And Top Official Discontent With Resolution That Ignores Jewish, Christian Ties To Temple Mount

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the resolution, saying “the theater of the absurd continues at the UN.”

“To say that Israel has no connection to the Temple Mount and the Western Wall is like saying that China has no connection to the Great Wall of China or that Egypt has no connection to the pyramids. By this absurd decision, UNESCO has lost what little legitimacy it had left.”

jerusalem_wailing-wall-western-wall

The UNESCO resolution denials historical connections to holy sites in Jerusalem (Temple Mount and Western Wall) while it affirms Judaism’s, Christianity’s, and Islam’s connection to Jerusalem.  It erases history.  This only acknowledges Muslim connections to holy sites in Jerusalem and denies Jewish and Christian connections to holy sites in Jerusalem.

The Chair (half hearted apology, no action)

The chair of UNESCO’s Executive Board, Michael Worbs, said Friday he was sorry about the resolution ignoring Jewish ties to Jerusalem’s holy sites that was passed by UNESCO on Thursday and that is set to be approved by his executive board next week. “It’s very exceptional what happened yesterday, and I’m sorry for that,” Worbs told Israeli television.

Worbs, who had said earlier Friday that he hoped Tuesday’s scheduled Executive Board vote would be delayed, to allow more time for dialogue, told Israel’s Channel 10 television he would never deny Jewish and Christian ties to Jerusalem, and invoked the cultural body’s decades-old designation of the capital as a World Heritage Site. This designation trumps any recent conversations about the city, Worbs said, in a reference to Thursday’s UNESCO resolution that appeared to negate non-Muslim connections to Jerusalem’s holy sites.  TimesOfIsrael

UNESCO Chief – Director-General Irina Bokova
It takes a Russian woman to tell UNESCO what a bunch of frauds it is.

In a statement on UNESCO’s website, Bokova said she opposes denial of historical connections to holy sites in Jerusalem.

“The heritage of Jerusalem is indivisible, and each of its communities has a right to the explicit recognition of their history and relationship with the city,” Bokova remarked, stating further, “To deny, conceal or erase any of the Jewish, Christian or Muslim traditions undermines the integrity of the site and runs counter to the reasons that justified its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list.”

The UNESCO chief added that she believes it is essential to recognize the different names of Jerusalem’s holy sites.

“In this microcosm of humanity’s spiritual diversity, different peoples worship the same places, sometimes under different names. The recognition, use of and respect for these names is paramount.”

“The Al Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram al-Sharif, the sacred shrine of Muslims, is also the Har HaBayit – or Temple Mount – whose Western Wall is the holiest place in Judaism.”

Bokova has previously signaled her opposition to resolutions that ignore Jewish connections to the Temple Mount, saying in July that she is concerned about “efforts to erase history and instrumentalize culture.”

Palestinian Foreign Minister

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki rebuked UNESCO Chief Irina Bokova on Friday for suggesting her discontent with a resolution approved yesterday by UNESCO member states that ignores Jewish connections to the Temple Mount.

“The Director General of UNESCO has out stepped the scope of her mandate by speaking out against a resolution adopted by the Executive Board of the organization,” Maliki said, adding, “This unusual and unacceptable position is an affront to the sovereignty of the Governing Body of UNESCO. JPost

UNESCO Rewrites History: Denies Jewish, Christian Ties To Temple Mount

Israel suspended cooperation with UNESCO Friday after the UN cultural organisation adopted two resolutions on the Temple Mount and the Western Wall.

The United Nations’ cultural agency (UNESCO) on Thursday passed a draft resolution which describes the Temple Mount as holy to Muslims alone and casts doubt on the link between Judaism and the Western Wall, a decision Israel called “absurd.”  This is rabid hatred and anti-Semitism and anti-Christian.

Israel is referred to throughout as the “occupying power”.  UNESCO demands not to use the term Temple Mount, but to refer to the site only as Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Western Wall as the Al-Buraq Plaza, that negates Jewish ties the the Temple Mount and Western wall, and from its historical roots as the location of the First and Second Temples.

Paris (AFP) – UNESCO’s decision-making body will next week consider two new resolutions on “Occupied Palestine”, six months after a similar text angered Israel.

The two resolutions, put forward by several Arab countries including Egypt, Lebanon and Algeria, were adopted Thursday at committee stage by the Paris-based organisation.

Participants said 24 votes were cast in favor and six against with 26 abstentions and two absentees.

U.S. lawmakers urge UNESCO not to rewrite Jerusalem’s history

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) are leading a bipartisan effort to stop the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from passing a resolution that would describe the Temple Mount and the Western Wall as holy Muslim sites, thus diminishing the historic and verified Jewish and Christian ties to the Old City of Jerusalem.

Ros-Lehtinen, Cruz and 37 other lawmakers signed a letter to members of the Executive Board of UNESCO, urging them to vote against the resolution.  Read letter at INN

In April, Yesh Atid chairman and former Finance Minister Yair Lapid wrote:

“This decision is a shameful attempt to rewrite history, rewrite reality as part of the ongoing political campaign against Israel and the Jewish people,” Lapid stated in the letter. “Palestinian incitement regarding the Temple Mount – which has been proven time and time again… has already cost the lives of dozens of Israelis.”

“Your decision only serves to extend this current wave of terror and will only lead to the deaths of more innocent people,” he continued. “You cannot evade this responsibility.”

Herodian Floor Tile Of Second Temple Courtyard Restored

Tiles from Herod’s Second Temple complex-Temple Mount Sifting Project

For the first time archaeologists from the Jerusalem-based Temple Mount Sifting Project have restored floor tiling that was part of the courtyards of King Herod’s Second Temple over 2,000 years ago.

“This represents the first time that archeologists have been able to successfully restore an element from the Herodian Second Temple complex,” said Dvira at an unveiling of the tiles at the project’s headquarters in Emek Tzurim National Park, located on the western slopes of Mount Scopus.

The regally designed ancient tiles likely featured prominently in the courtyards of the holy Temple during King Herod’s reign between 37 to 4 BCE, added Barkay.

“It enables us to get an idea of the Temple’s incredible splendor,” he said.

The Temple Mount Sifting Project, supported by the City of David Foundation and the Israel Archeology Foundation, was established in response to the illegal removal of tons of antiquities-rich earth from the Temple Mount by the Islamic Waqf in 1999…

Frankie Snyder, a member of the Temple Mount Sifting Project’s team of researchers and an expert in the study of ancient Herodian-style flooring, said they succeeded in restoring the ornate tile patterns using geometric principles, and through similarities found in tile design used by Herod at other sites.

“This type of flooring, called opus sectile [Latin for “cut work”] is very expensive, and was considered to be far more prestigious than mosaic tiled floors,” said Snyder, who has an academic background in mathematics and Judaic Studies.

“So far, we have succeeded in restoring seven potential designs of the majestic flooring that decorated the buildings of the Temple Mount,” Snyder added, noting that there were no opus sectile floors in Israel prior to the time of King Herod.

“The tile segments were perfectly inlaid, such that one could not even insert a sharpblade between them,” she explained. JPost

Jordan Cancels Security Cameras Project On Temple Mount

Israel-Aerial-Jerusalem-Temple_Mount-Temple_Mount_(south_exposure)Jordanian prime minister stated Palestinian opposition as the reason for nixing the security camera program on the Temple Mount.  The Palestinians must fear the cameras would show their lies and wrong-doing to the world.

“We were surprised since our intention to carry out the project, by the response of some of our Palestinian brethren to the project, adding that they voiced their concern and cast doubt on its aims and objectives,” Prime Minister Ensour said.

Amid rising Palestinian opposition to the plans by Jordan and Israel to install security cameras on the Temple Mount, Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour announced on Monday that his country would not proceed with the installations.

According to Ensour, the Hashemite Kingdom backed out of the joint initiative due to a lack of Palestinian support for the initiative. YNetNews

Temple Mount Surveillance Cameras To Be Installed “In Days”

Israel-Aerial-Jerusalem-Temple_Mount-Temple_Mount_(south_exposure)The cameras on the Temple Mount will show the open areas.  Where the cameras would be placed and what the cameras would show contributed to the delay.

Surveillance cameras will be installed on the Temple Mount in the coming days, Jordanian Minister of State for Information Muhammad al-Mumani announced over the weekend.

He said that the cameras were not intended to help Israel arrest Muslim men and women who have been protesting visits by Jews to the site. JPost

Israel has an interest in placing surveillance cameras on the Temple Mount to debunk the claim it is changing the status quo there, to show the real source of the provocations and stop them in real time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in October of 2015.

Jordan previously stated that the new surveillance cameras on the Temple Mount would be streamed live online.

Some Bible prophecy students point out the interesting verses in Revelation 11 which speak of the whole world being able to watch what happens in Jerusalem when God’s Two Witnesses are killed on the streets and left there for three and a half days, where they then rise from the dead.  Although it is unclear from scripture where in Jerusalem they will be slain, the Temple Mount area would be a likely place in which they would deliver a message to the people of Jerusalem.

Revealing The Buried Treasures Of The Temple Mount

University of Jordan Survey: 60% Of Jordanian Students Have Never Heard Of ‘Al-Aqsa’

Al-Aqsa Mosque
Al-Aqsa Mosque

The al-Aqsa mosque sits on the Temple Mount and according to the Palestinian-Arab narrative it is one of the holiest sites in all of Islam and should be under Muslim sovereignty.

A startling new study published by the University of Jordan reveals that, contrary to the popular Palestinian narrative, not only do most Muslims outside of Israel not care about the al-Aqsa Mosque, located on the Temple Mount, but many have never even heard of it….

Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas even attributed the current wave of terror (with praise), which began in September of 2015, to Palestinian “despair” over the status quo on the Mount.  BreakingNewsIsrael

A new survey published by the University of Jordan raises a startling statistic which challenges quite a few deeply-rooted fundamental assumptions surrounding the Temple Mount.

The survey, conducted among 6,000 Jordanian students, asked only one question: What is al-Aqsa Mosque? The result: More than 60 percent of the students did not know how to answer.

Following the embarrassing results, the Islamic Council of Jerusalem, which operates in the Muslim University, presented the data as a severe blow and implemented new rules requiring students to pass a course on the “Jordanian Al-Aqsa Mosque.” INN

Temple Mount Surveillance Cameras

Jordanians criticized  the Palestinian Authority for rejecting the idea of installing security cameras at the Temple Mount.

The Jordanians noted that the idea of installing the cameras was aimed at “protecting the Aksa Mosque by documenting what’s happening at the site.” JPost

The installation is still under discussion.

The Wakf, which administers the Mount said that Israeli police over the weekend had stopped the installation of cameras by the Wakf. A statement issued by the trust said it regarded this interference as “evidence that Israel wants to install cameras that only serve its own interest.”

An Israeli spokeswoman said the issue was still being discussed at the diplomatic level, with American involvement. “Once a decision is made it will be implemented with the approval and coordination of all relevant parties.”  Free Beacon

Jordan wants the new surveillance cameras on the Temple Mount to be streamed live online.  Both Muslim clerics and Israeli officials will for now monitor the images.  A senior Jordanian government official said,  “the ultimate goal is for the footage to be seen on the Internet, by everyone.”
