Pro-Israel Artist Threatened With 5 Years In Jail For Campus Anti-Terror Posters At George Mason University

Put up anti-terror posters on campus and receive $8,000 bail and face 5 years in jail.

It’s not a story out of the Soviet Union though Oleg Atbashian, an artist, activist and commentator, had gotten in trouble for defying the authorities there too.

“Back in my Soviet dissident days, when I was collecting signatures in defense of Andrei Sakharov, I was screamed at, threatened, and lectured by the KGB and Communist funcionaries. What I never imagined was that in the United States, the land of the free, I would not only be subjected to similar treatment, but go to jail,” Oleg writes.

But that’s exactly what happened to him.

Oleg’s mixture of art and satire took off with Communists for Kerry. He’s the mastermind behind The People’s Cube and his tweaking of the radical left and  its alliance with Islamic terrorists allowed him to continue the same fight he had pursued in the days of the Soviet Union. But as the US comes to resemble the USSR, political satire and activism carries a serious price.

This is what happened to Oleg when he put up some of his Freedom Center posters challenging the anti-Semitic environment created by the left’s alliance with Islamic terrorists on campus.

This was supposed to be a two-day poster campaign, to counteract the George Mason University hosting an official national conference for Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), which is an anti-Semitic organization with well-documented ties to Hamas – a terrorist group whose stated goal is to exterminate the Jews. The GMU poster campaign was conceived by the David Horowitz Freedom Center.

My part in it was to create provocative artwork for the posters and to hang them around the GMU campus, as well as to distribute flyers in order to raise awareness among the students, faculty, and the administration about the true meaning of their support for the SJP conference.

On the first day, my friend and I placed a few stickers on walls, poles, and signs around the GMU campus. We also placed paper flyers inside and outside the university buildings. We had decided to hang the larger posters on the following night, right before the start of the SJP conference.

Arriving at the campus in the evening, we noticed a large police presence everywhere, including the campus Starbucks. From what we overheard at the tables, the police were on the lookout for people posting “disturbing” flyers. At one point we considered canceling our mission due to this higher risk, but then decided to hang a few posters in new locations, in order to get the message out more effectively.

We only had time to hang three large posters when, at about 4am, our car was pulled over by a GMU PD cruiser with flashing lights. As we found out later, they already had a description of our rental KIA Optima. Officer M.J. Guston and his female partner, Officer Daniels, requested to see our drivers’ licenses, which they took away. Then they inquired if we had any weapons and proceeded with the visual search, noticing our bucket with mixed wallpaper paste and some rolled posters on the back seat, covered with towels.

The police officers took pictures of the contents of our car and retrieved some of the loose fliers from the floor as evidence. They claimed that since we were covering the posters and flyers with towels, we intended to conceal our wrongdoing. We explained that the towels were needed to wipe our hands, to prevent the bucket from spilling, and to stop the papers from rolling around the car, which was the honest truth.

The story sounds Kafkaesque. But it only gets more so.

Officer Daniels told us that the content of our posters was violent and disturbing to some students, especially the one with the Hamas terrorist standing in pools of blood over his dead victims. Such interpretation flipped our message on its head entirely, turning it from sympathy for the victims of violence into a threat of violence. Read full article at FrontPageMag

Virginia Gov. Pardons 60,000 Felons, Enough To Swing Election

terry_mcauliffe_hillary_clinton

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe primary role seem to be getting Hillary elected, no concern for Virginia.  Who cares what the judge said.  Selling the office of Gov. by offering a pardon in exchange for a vote.  Unseemly slice of Democrats.

McAuliffe gave nearly $500,000 to the election campaign of the wife of an FBI official who later helped oversee the investigation into Mrs. Clinton’s email use.

He is also stonewalling an investigation that could uncover even larger election fraud problems in Virginia, a swing state.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe has granted voting rights to as many as 60,000 convicted felons just in time for them to register to vote, nearly five times more than previously reported and enough to win the state for his long-time friend, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

McAuliffe sought to allow all of Virginia’s estimated 200,000 felons to vote, but state courts said each individual felon’s circumstances must be weighed. To get around that, McAuliffe used a mechanical autopen to rapidly sign thousands of letters, as if he had personally reviewed them, even as his office was saying the total was 13,000.

Now, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned that McAuliffe — who managed Clinton’s unsuccessful 2008 presidential campaign — churned out five times as many letters before the registration deadline than publicly claimed. DailyCaller

The Virginia school acceptance of a Planned Parenthood club then there should be no problem opening a pro-life club.

A Virginia public school has allowed a Planned Parenthood student group to form on campus.

The stated purpose in the constitution and bylaws of the “Planned Parenthood Generation Action” club at Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School for Government and International Studies (MLWGS) lays it bare.

“The purpose of this club is to provide education, outreach, and advocacy opportunities at Maggie Walker to support the goals of Planned Parenthood,” it says.“It is meant to let students learn more about the issues that affect their lives, create a network with other students who support Planned Parenthood, and engage in the political process to win elections and pass pro reproductive freedom legislation.”

The first meeting of the new “Planned Parenthood Generation Action” club was scheduled for September 19, a post on the school’s Facebook page said. “Whether you are interested in health, education, or getting community service hours this election season this club is for you.” LifeSiteNews

Over 1,000 Illegal Voters In Eight Virginia Localities

voterVirginia Voters Alliance looked at only 8 of 125 localities, the problem is much worse.  1,046 Virginia align and non-citizen voters may just be the tip of the iceberg. Voter ID laws would catch almost all of these illegal voters.

More than 1,000 non-citizens in eight Virginia localities have voted in recent elections in the key swing state and the Democrat governor is reportedly stonewalling an investigation that could uncover an even larger election fraud problem. worldtribune

“Before his appointment by Democratic Gov. Terence McAuliffe, Cortés [commissioner of the commonwealth’s department of elections] was a left-wing operative of Virginia Voting Rights Restoration Campaign, within the left-wing Advancement Project. The project was funded and supported by George Soros, through his Tides Foundation and Open Society Foundations. BreitBart

In Virginia, no proof of citizenship is required when voters register.

The disclosure is a major problem for Virginia and the nation. One thousand votes or so is enough to swing a close election in the state. In 2013, the Democratic candidate for attorney general won by fewer than 1,000 votes.

It’s also not inconceivable that a presidential race could come down to 1,000 votes or less, as happened in Florida in 2000. Like Florida, Virginia is considered a swing state.

The Virginia Voters Alliance looked into the issue first with Alexandria, Virginia. The alliance noticed that the Northern Virginia city had more people registered to vote than eligible voters who lived there.

The alliance found 70 non-citizens had registered. The non-citizens had been purged from the voter rolls — but in some cases, had voted in the interim.

Adams said the watchdog group moved the investigation wider and soon met resistance. Adams said Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat and an old friend of Hillary Clinton, told a key staffer to advise officials in other Virginia localities to ignore Adams’ requests for information.

The problem of non-citizens is likely worse than what the alliance found in eight Virginia localities.

“The problem is most certainly exponentially worse because we have no data regarding aliens on the registration rolls for the other 125 Virginia localities,” the report reads. “Even in this small sample, when the voting history of this small sample of alien registrants is examined, nearly 200 verified ballots were cast before they were removed from the rolls. Each one of them is likely a felony.” Polizette

Hampden-Sydney College Fires Lieutenant General William “Jerry” Boykin Over PC Gender Ideology

lt-gen-boykin
Lieutenant General William “Jerry” Boykin, USA, Ret.

Update:   An importance reminder of the worth of standing up for and defending our ‎First Amendment rights.

Less than six hours later, the college reversed its decision and offered the retired general a one-year contract.“Hampden-Sydney College is a fine school with a proud history of young men who have led our country, and I am honored to be a part of shaping the next generation of leaders,” Boykin told me. “I would like to thank the leadership of Hampden-Sydney College for the courage they have demonstrated in reversing their decision and allowing me to remain a part of the Hampden-Sydney community.” FoxNews

Last night the college announced that they are inviting Lt. Gen. Boykin back to teach again this fall. I’m glad they decided not to give in to the LGBT activists on this, and I’m sure their donors and supporters wouldn’t have agreed with their decision. Lt. Gen. Boykin is an American hero and deserves to be honored.

Lt. Gen. Boykin urges us to “Push back against these bathroom laws, and stand up if not for a moral reason, but for the safety of the women and young girls who would be put at risk.” He’s right. Franklin Graham

Lieutenant General William “Jerry” Boykin, USA, Ret. was a member of the Army’s Delta Force and at one time commanded all of the U.S. Army’s Green Berets.  He is also currently executive vice president of Family Research Council.  Boykin was fired by Hampden-Sydney College after teaching there nine years.

Referring to President Obama’s push to allow grown men into girls’ bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms, General Boykin joked, “…the first man who goes in the restroom with my daughter will not have to worry about surgery.” That levity, in today’s precious academic world, was a firing offense. Ted Cruz

Boykin asserts he was not calling for violence.

The bottom line is that I oppose these so called “Bathroom‬” bills that let men go into women’s locker rooms, showers, and toilets and I have been very public about it. When I said in Orlando that “…the first man who goes in the restroom with my daughter will not have to worry about surgery”, the LGBT community once again came after me, claiming that I was calling for violence against transgender people.

Well, that is simply not the case and I have never called for violence against anyone. I was referring to perverts who will use these policies to get into locker rooms with girls and women, and I object to that. My statement was meant to be humor and not a call for violence, which everyone in my audience understood as humor.

Nonetheless, I gave the LGBT community just what they needed to pressure the college leadership to terminate me and they did.

Three observations by Senator Ted Cruz:

First, our universities are losing their souls. College should be about learning, and that requires a diversity of views. When I was a student in the 1980s and 90s, surrounded by college and law school faculty members who were militant leftists and even Marxists, I didn’t curl up in a ball and plead for a “safe place.” Confronting opposing views helped me learn what I myself believe, and helped me understand better how to persuade others. That’s the essence of education. Raising coddled, solipsistic children who cannot handle dissent represents a complete failure and abdication of the university mission.

Second, free speech matters. If you disagree with someone, disagree with them. Don’t silence or punish them. Censorship is the refuge of the weak-minded (those who cannot defend their views) or the tyrannical (those who simply want to force submission and compliance). Continue reading at Ted Cruz

Virginia Students Practice Calligraphy By Writing “There is no god but Allah”

shahada_virginia

Update: After backlash from parents 2 dozen public schools in Virginia closed Friday, starting the district’s winter break early.
They cited a risk of harm to officials as the reason for the closure. “Some communications posed a risk of harm to school officials” while others”threatened significant protests on or near school property.”  WHSV  Threatening violence, no excuse for that but protesting the lesson content is absolutely understandable.

Greenville, Virginia’s Riverheads High School assignment in World Geography class was to practice “calligraphy” by copying the Muslim statement of faith, also known as the shahada.  Also the female students were invited to don Muslim apparel and subsequently were photographed in costume by the teacher.

A Virginia school district is defending a classroom assignment that required students to practice calligraphy by writing the Muslim statement of faith, “There is no god but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

Female students at Riverheads High School in Staunton, Virginia, were also invited to wear Muslim clothing — a story first reported by The Schilling Show.

The school district convened a meeting on Dec. 11th to discuss the assignment with outraged parents.

“Neither these lessons, nor any other lesson in the world geography course, are an attempt at indoctrination to Islam or any other religion, or a request for students to renounce their own faith or profess any belief,” the district said in a statement provided to Fox News.

The Muslim-friendly calligraphy assignment took place in a world geography class. The teacher had the kids copy the Muslim statement of faith, also known as the shahada.

Parents told The Schilling Show that their children were not given the translation of what they were writing.  In other words, there were more than likely a few Christian teenagers in that room who had no idea they were writing, “There is no god but Allah.”

But the school district doesn’t seem to think that’s a problem.

“The statement presented as an example of the calligraphy was not translated for students, nor were students asked to translate it, recite it or otherwise adopt or pronounce it as a personal belief,” the district stated.

They said it was all about the art — not about the theology.

“They were simply asked to attempt to artistically render written Arabic in order to understand its artistic complexity,” they stated.

And out of sheer coincidence — out of all the Arabic words and phrases the teacher could have selected, she picked the Islamic statement of faith?  FoxNews
