A Wheaton College political science professor, Larycia Hawkins, pledged to wear a hijab during Advent in support of her Muslim neighbors has been placed on administrative leave over “significant questions regarding the theological implications” of her explanation of why she was doing so.
“I don’t love my Muslim neighbor because s/he is American. I love my Muslim neighbor because s/he deserves love by virtue of her/his human dignity,”…”I stand in human solidarity with my Muslim neighbor because we are formed of the same primordial clay, descendants of the same cradle of humankind — a cave in Sterkfontein, South Africa that I had the privilege to descend into to plumb the depths of our common humanity in 2014…”
“I stand in religious solidarity with Muslims because they, like me, a Christian, are people of the book. And as Pope Francis stated last week, we worship the same God.”
No they are not. She is absolutely wrong; she obviously does not know her Bible and she does not know Islam. She lacks an understanding of the nature of Islam as well as the nature of Christianity. Good information on the subject at JihadWatch
“”As part of my Advent Worship, I will wear the hijab to work at Wheaton College, to play in Chi-town, in the airport and on the airplane to my home state that initiated one of the first anti-Sharia laws (read: unconstitutional and Islamophobic), and at church,” she added.
The hijab, niqab, and burka are signs of oppression. Does she know what sharia is? She sees anti-sharia legislation that protects our constitution as unconstitutional. She is confusing what is unconstitutional (sharia) with what is constitutional.
She seems to be lacking very basic knowledge and should not be teaching at a Christian college.
